Rat race

Where did all the time (this week) go?

I worked from home on Tuesday, while the hubs cleverly took leave.

Tuesday turned out to be a very meh day because I found myself getting into calls after calls.

Our study room is functional again after shifting some furniture out so I work in the study room whenever Allie is not napping.

Came out after a call and found her sleeping on her Daddy’s chest. πŸ˜„

I asked the hubs to go for a jog after I wrapped up work at 6pm, while the girls ate their dinner.

It’s been more than five years since we ran together, as in, on the track at the same time.

After having kids, even if we went jogging “together”, we’d be taking turns to run.

Speaking of running, this appeared in my newsfeed quite a few times this week.

How apt.

I shared this with my close friends at work, and they shared it on their IGs immediately.

One of them received a response from a guy friend who said, “But I help with the housework!”

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜±πŸ˜‚

To which I can only say, the men really don’t get it.

I’m sure he’s a nice guy, but the fact that he says he “helps” with the housework says a lot about who he thinks the responsibility lies on, and that he is just sensible and nice enough to “help”. πŸ˜…

I’ve been feeling quite overwhelmed this week because of all the new commitments, both personal and at work, responsibilities and workload coming my way.

My boss kindly sponsored me to go for an executive course on Digital marketing when I mentioned to her how I unequipped I felt in terms of my knowledge on new media strategies.

Before I knew it I was offered the opportunity and of course I have to take it.

Most of the classes are in the evenings but it’s a web based course so I hope I can manage to carve out the 2-4 hours a week that’s required.

It’d be even more challenging when I go on business trips but I guess I’ll just have to suck it up and hope for the best.

The hubs complained that I’d have even less time for him now but I complained right back to him that it’s really hard being a woman. πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚πŸ˜

We have to work, to nurture, to keep the house running, to contribute, and now to upgrade ourselves in order to keep our jobs.

Sings.. All by myself~ πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚

Allie has been running a runny nose since we got back from the cruise.

She seemed better on Saturday. No more mucus, though we could hear some phlegm on her chest. We wanted to take her to a doctor to listen to her chest and lungs to confirm, but when we got to the clinic the long queue put us off.

So we went to the gym as planned.

I really like how fearless she is. She tries everything at least once, always with gusto and a cute little grin.

Nice!

Post nap playground time!

This girl either has no sense of danger or is a natural risk taker.

She’d tried to go down the slide standing up, multiple times, despite me giving her specific instructions to sit down first.

Simple pleasures.

It takes quite little to make them happy.

Daddy joined us after coffee with his friend.

And then Allie’s attention turned to a cute little dog.

Omg she went straight into hugging the dog and I had to remind her it’s not a soft toy!

The young girl was so nice and friendly to play the girls touch her dog! 😊

Priceless smiles all around!

Homework for the term: Roles at home and a journal about helping out at home.

I did the former with her, as it is mostly talking about the roles and her drawing them.

The latter requires parents to take photos and document them in the form of a poster or booklet.. and I reminded and nagged the hubs a few times to do it.

I helped with most of the photo taking and I try to be as honest as possible.

Clarissa does help a lot with putting her toys away and wiping the table, and of course, playing with and taking care of Allie so all the photos reflect that.

The hubs got the photos printed while the girls looked at rabbits and hamsters. πŸ˜†πŸ‘

And he got a poster done while the girls napped.

Only Clarissa went for swimming class. Allie had to sit out because she woke up in the middle of the night screaming and crying.. and her mucus and phlegm came back.

She’s been rather grouchy today so I think we really should take her to a PD tomorrow to get her checked.

It’s 525pm on a Sunday and I’m already having Monday blues.
